in reference to subjects already mentioned in this forum...
"...i am melodramatic right now and you may blame it all on my internals. the realisation that i am studying in a system wher my success of failure depends on varied factors like my affinity to boning up about fish & cockroaches, hydrocarbons & electron spins or global warming & population characteristics.....as the subject may demand.....has depressed me quite intensely. dont get me wrong, i LIKE learning about fish, cockroaches, hydrocarbons, electron spins, global warming, population characters (well maybe not the last) and all the other stuff but i do NOT like boning up about it!!! in fact i REFUSE to bone up........well, its only symbolic of course, if i actually refused they might flunk me!.......in protest against this inane pounding of useless trivia into my brain! like, why shud i care if an parrotfish has an endoskelton similar to that of the labeo??
i make that reference to my recent zoology viva, in which the question asked was, identify with 3 reasons the specimen given...it was a turtle...so i told her, classification with the reasons: shell, front flippers and head morphology. she asked me, why didnt i tell her that it about its respiration methods. well my point here is, the animal is DEAD, i cant SEE how it is respiring! so how will its frickin mode of respiration be an identifying factor??!?!??!??!?!?!??
haaaaaaaaaan, as you can see i'm stil pretty het up about it all! a condition not eased in the least by the fact that even tho i gave one line answers followed by "ummm......." to all the questions in ALL the vivas, i have still got 7 or 8 or evn 9(twice) marks in all of them. now what does that tell you about the quality of education?! tchah! is what i say!..."

why is it that when some people enter your life they take it over immediately and completely? this may be positive in that they pervade your thoughts and make you feel better and maybe even bring out the best in you.
but there's another way of take-over too......the hostile one. this is where the real danger lies.the one where it becomes so that you wonder if you can call your soul your own, and you can't express a single opinion without having it over-ridden, trampled down, or patronisingly classified as a "done that".
i'm having a bit of both right now and trying to cope with the latter with the strength of the former seems to be working....just needed to express

While submitting the aforementioned zoology journal in the laboratory:
This is NOT teaching what they do here. When the only purpose of the practical journal is to mindlessly copy the notes from the previous year into it, and that of the viva to mindlessly reproduce that same information in speech form to a teacher whose sole concern is to see that that journal is complete, ow can you call it teaching? what did i learn?

as it turns out, life is pretty good after all. In certain moods it may seem otherwise, but i am convinced now that on the whole....its pretty worth it.

fleeting thought #1
As occurred while completing zoology journal prior to submission, as recommended in the practical syllabus of S.Y.B.Sc. by the University of Pune:
there's something seriously messed up in an education system where one's success depends on one's expertise in drawing fish and/or inventiveness when it comes to excuses as to why one did not draw those fish.

As an opening speech....
I only want to record for posterity that i was very impressed by this T-shirt quote I saw yesterday. I'm going to be the very opposite of what it says, but still....its good!
"If you wanna be seen, stand up.
If you wanna be heard, speak up.
If you wanna be appreciated, SHUT UP!"
